Our institutions once had a high school, from which these two graduated in the 50s. Once they remarked about how proud they were that the schol had grown so, now being called by its university name, but that is not how they remembered it. They weren't complaining, only reminiscing. This same couple spearheaded a 60th reunion for their class and had a tremendous turnout. We were able to work with our archives and locate the original seal of the school, and had it imprinted on medallioNs for this couple and the reunion attendees. Looking back, the should have been an no brainer, but no one had ever take time to think (or listen) from their perspective. They were so surprised - and so appreciative. It was also meaningful for me to be a part of bringing something to pass that meant so much to them. It reminds me to listen closely, and leave my assumptions behind.
